A Ball State University associate professor of technology received an award Monday for her commitment to long-distance learning.
Mary Annette Rose won this year's Rawlings Outstanding Distance Education Teaching Award in the School of Extended Education.
Established in 2002, the Rawlings award is given to the professor who is most dedicated to teaching education courses at off-campus venues.
Earlier this year, Rose organized EnviroTech - an online seminar series available to teachers throughout the nation. This series helped more than 20 technology educators and 400 students evaluate the effects technology decisions have on their environment and health.
As a professor at Ball State for seven years, Rose has created materials and taught four online graduate courses. She also developed a course last school year to cover the evaluation of technical education.
The Rawlings Award was named after Joseph Rawlings, a former dean of the School of Extended Education.
