SOCCER: Cardinals still looking for first win of season

The search for their first win of the season continues for the Ball State University soccer team. An 0-4 start to the season has left the team searching for answers and a way to get themselves in the win column for the first time this season. The Cardinals have another chance to get a win tonight on the road against the University of Dayton. The Flyers come into the match with a 2-0-3 record, only allowing one goal all season in a 1-1 tie to No. 25 Auburn University.

Last season, the Flyers handed the Cardinals their only home loss. Ball State lost the match 2-0 on a pair of Dayton goals scored 1:51 apart from one another.

On Sunday, the Cardinals will play their first home match against SIU-Edwardsville after a five game road trip. With their overall home record in the program's 10 seasons, the home turf will be welcomed. Ball State is 57-26-11 all-time at home and had winning records in nine of 10 seasons.

SIU-Edwardsville will enter this weekend with an 0-3-1 record, their lone tie coming against Western Illinois University. The Cougars have been outscored on the season 7-3.

The home match will be the first time the team's 10 freshman will play a regular season match at Ball State. It will also be the first home match for Missy Gordon who transferred from Marshall University last season.

From Carmel, Ind., Gordon posted 11 points and three goals in 18 games for the Thundering Herd. Gordon and junior Jacki Eft were teammates for club soccer in high school.
