FOOTBALL: Ball State leads New Hampshire after first quarter

Aided by great field position, Ball State University kicked two field goals to take a 6-0 lead against the University of New Hampshire in the first quarter.

Ian McGarvey kicked a career-long 48-yard field goal to give the Cardinals their first lead of the year less than three minutes into the game. McGarvey added a 47-yard field goal three minutes later after junior Robert Eddins blocked a punt.

Wildcats quarterback R.J. Toman is 7-of-14 passing for 66 yards, he also has rushed five times for 28 yards. Kelly Page has completed just one of his six passes for seven yards.
