First ever Entrepreneurship Film Festival will show business success stories

The Entrepreneurship Center in partnership with the Department of Economics, the Economics Club and the Student Entrepreneurship Club will have the first ever Entrepreneurial Film Festival.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. in Whitinger Building Room 144, and will run until 11:30 p.m. with periodic breaks between each film for brief discussion as well as refreshments. The festival is open to the public and free of charge for anyone in attendance.

The first two films will cover the steps of starting a new business as well as provide many examples of people locally and nationally who have done so successfully. The films will cover what each person went through to make their business successful.

"Increasing the Odds," the second film to be shown, is a documentary created by a group of Ball State business and telecommunications students as a part of a Virginia Ball Center project and is designed to help the na've but aspiring entrepreneur avoid crucial mistakes in developing a business.

The third film will discuss the story of Ewing Marion Kauffman, an American entrepreneur, and the final film of the evening will cover Ayn Rand's character, Howard Roark, from her novel "The Fountainhead," who refuses to give up his artistic integrity in exchange for success when the rest of the community seems to be against him.

The discussions following each film will give students the opportunity to ask questions and provide insights of their own into the world of entrepreneurship. Professors Michael Goldsby, the Stoops Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship, and economics professor Cecil Bohanon will lead film discussions.
