WOMEN'S GOLF: Cardinals sign golfer from South Africa for upcoming season

A golfer from South Africa will play for the Ball State University women's golf team this upcoming season.

The team announced Monday that Chantelle Hefer signed a letter of intent to play for the Cardinals.

Hefer - from Centurion, South Africa - has two top 15 finishes in amateur events during the last three months. The 2009 high school graduate finished in 10th place at the Limpopo Open in June and tied for 12th place at the NorthernCape Women's Championship in May.

Hefer is the second athlete from South Africa to sign with Ball State in the last two years. Cliff Morrison - from Durban, South Africa - played for the men's tennis team after graduating high school in December and was named to the freshman all-conference team in April.
