Ball State University track and field's fifth-year senior Amber Williams took three of the five victories collected at the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio this weekend.
Williams picked up right where she left off in the 100-meter race as she again won the event with a time of 12.09 seconds. Williams also took the 100-meter hurdles at 13.84 and junior Katie Johnson finished third in the race.
Williams kept the Cardinals going with her third win of the invitational in the 200-meter race at 25.18 seconds. Teammate freshmen Janae Taylor chased Williams' heels to earn second place at 25.24. Both ladies set a NCAA regional qualifying mark for their efforts.
The 800-meter race had three Balls State competitors place in the top six. Junior Brittany Ade came in first with a time of 2:17.97, while freshman teammates Christine Talhelm and Brandi Robinson placed third and sixth.
Junior Ali Bishel clocked in a time of 17:18.15 in the 5,000-meter run to place second.
In the 400-meter hurdles, junior Jena Schmitmeyer had a time of 1:04.21 to take second place. Johnson came in third with a 1:04:22.
The 4x100 relay team continued its success from the last meet with a win at 46.18.
In field events senior Jessica Genovese came in third place in the high jump with a height of 5-feet,3 inches. Freshman Ebony James and senior Lauren McNichols finished sixth and eighth for the Cardinals.
Sophomores Lindsay Bangert and Thekla Lorenz completed the long jump in fourth and fifth place.
Junior Tyra Shantz finished sixth in the hammer toss with a 149-5. Sophomore Jordan Puckett threw a 93-7 to place eighth in the javelin.
