Spectrum continues its Spring Week today with its annual drag show in Ball Gym. This year's show, called Cirque de So Gay, has a circus theme and will feature members of Spectrum performing songs while dressed in drag.
"It's something fun to do," senior theater major Julie Berger said. "It's a good way to help raise money for causes in the gay, lesbian, bi- and transsexual community."
Each year, Spectrum's drag show accepts donations and tips, all of which go toward a charitable organization. This year proceeds will benefit the Human Rights Campaign, a civil rights organization thatfocuses on gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual equality.
A magician will perform before the show at 7 p.m. and during the intermission special acts will perform including a yo-yo act and a special dance performance.
Spectrum Secretary Jacinta Yanders said the shows have done well in the past and this year should be no different.
"The drag show is a Spectrum tradition," Yanders said. "Everyone that has ever attended has loved [the show], and we love being able to continue it each semester."
The show is in Ball Gym at 8 p.m.
