SOFTBALL: Cards offense sweep of Huskies

The Ball State University softball team continued its offensive prowess winning the second game of doubleheader 5-2 and completed its sweep of Northern Illinois University today at the BSU Softball Complex.

After tying the Ball State single-season home run record in the first game, Jen Reifschneider went 0-4 with two RBIs off a sacrifice fly.

Allie Pennock led the way for the Cardinals at the plate going 3-4 with three runs and one RBI. She also lead the team with five putouts in the game.

Shortstop Alicia Barkley helped Ball State with two diving catches.

Pitcher Laura Masch got the win from the mound, notching two strikeouts, three hits and three runs in 5.1 innings of work.In her fourth outing of the season, freshman Kim Mazzapica gave up no hits in 1.2 innings of work.

Ball State is next in action Saturday when it hosts Western Michigan University at 2 p.m. If the Cardinals win this game it will clinch a spot in the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
