MEN'S TENNIS: Western Michigan knocks Ball State out of MAC Tournament

The season is done for Ball State University's men's tennis team.

No. 1 seed Western Michigan University knocked out Ball State in the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Friday 4-2 in Buffalo, N.Y.

The match played out similar to the regular season meeting two weeks ago between the two schools. Ball State had chances to win but couldn't come through in the end.

Senior Jorge Rodriguez and sophomore Shaun Bussert won Ball State's two points at No. 5 and 6 singles.

The Cardinals lost the doubles point and No. 2 singles in straight sets.

Sophomore Eduardo Pavia and freshmen Cliff Morrison and Andres Monroy all had three-set matches. Pavia lost his third set 6-2, and Morrison's 7-5 third set defeat sealed the Cardinals' fate. Monroy's match did not finish.

Ball State concluded the year with a 12-12 record. Friday's match was the final match for seniors Rodriguez and Jose Perdomo as they'll be lost to graduation.
