Local Muncie band Dreams of University will have a CD release party at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Muncie Civic Theater.
The band's first major album, "Morning Rearrangement," was recorded in New York City and will debut at the event, band manager Alan Maugherman said.
Maugherman describes Dreams of University's music as "pop/funk." The group opened for Fall Out Boy two years ago and played at the Warped Tour in Indianapolis last year.
In addition, Maugherman said, about 25 radio stations have picked up music from the new CD.
"They're probably one of the local bands that has a shot to make it," Maugherman said. "This is a great chance to see them perform."
The event will feature five local bands. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.
