A stately affair: The women of Phi Mu sorority celebrated State Day with chapters from Indiana and Illinois on Sunday.

Sarah Robinson, Phi Mu public relations chairwoman, said all chapters in Indiana and a few colonizing chapters from Illinois gathered at L.A. Pittenger Student Center to bond and learn about the fraternity.

About 150 members and alumni attended the event. Activities included: a campus tour, tie-dyeing shirts, making paper flowers for Riley's Children's Hospital and listening to FIJI member Zach Braddock sing.

"It was a really good turnout," Robinson said. "Most people don't attend State Day."

A high point of the event was the attendance of one of the founders of Ball State University's Phi Mu Chapter.

"It was something special because State Day is usually collegiate with alumni that recently graduated," Robinson said.

Annual rituals: August's fraternity rituals for Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity will be at its new house on Riverside Avenue.

Travis Niehoff, public relations chairman, said Saturday marked the final ritual at the current Sigma Phi house because of construction on the new mansion. Construction will end in the fall.

Many alumni and members attended a cookout to honor candidates Harry Sherman and Ernie Krug, lifetime fraternity members.

"The event had a successful turnout," Niehoff said.

Par-tee Time: The women of Alpha Gamma Delta fraternity "Par-teed" to raise money for its foundation at The Players Club on Saturday in Yorktown.

The annual Par-tee Golf Tournament saw the best weather in four years and raised more than a $1,000 for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, an organization that helps support research for juvenile diabetes, scholarships, educational programs, leadership training and sister income support, Lydia Hatter, fraternity public relations chairwoman, said.

Alpha Gamma Delta member Angela Nicola's team placed first out of 14 teams.

Team members Domenic Santerossa, David Santerossa, Devin Treslass and David Killion, won the tournament and $100 gift cards to The Players Club, Hatter said.
