Fraternity puts on show, inducts four members outside Atrium

Flanked by two tiki torches and dressed in suits and red masks, four new additions to the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity were unveiled Thursday night in front of the Atrium.

Christopher McBride, Antwan Pratt, John Williams and Dayne Lewis were inducted into the fraternity in front of hundreds of students sitting in chairs and gathered around the fountains for "DINasty Takeover presents: The Four Side Step Show."

Before the new additions were unveiled, members of Kappa Alpha Psi put on a step show.

A step show is an event in which members of an organization or several organizations perform synchronized, rhythmic steps while chanting lyrics to show pride and spirit for their organization.

"Everyone wants a step show and we're gonna give them one," President Loren Ray said. "We wanted to bring something to the campus that they don't get to see too often."

When the new additions were brought out they performed several dances and recited their fraternity's history and other information about Kappa Alpha Psi.

The show ended with the new members taking off their masks and music by DJ DJ.

Lewis, one of the new members, said he and the three others had been working for a week on memorizing their routine.

He said he was delighted by the turnout.

"I like how everybody came out and supported us," Lewis said. "It is hard work, but we did what we had to do and we got things done and everyone seemed to like it."
