FOOTBALL: Another MAC player gets selected in NFL Draft

A second Mid-American Conference player was selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, but it was not a player from Ball State University.

Western Michigan University defensive back Louis Delmas was selected by the Detroit Lions with the first pick in the second round, which was pick No. 33 overall.

Delmas was a First Team All-MAC selection this past season for Western Michigan. He led the Broncos with 111 tackles and four interceptions on the season. Against Ball State this past season, Delmas had eight tackles.

Delmas was the second MAC player selected in the 2009 NFL Draft. The San Diego Chargers took Northern Illinois University defensive end/outside linebacker Larry English with the 16th pick of the first round.

No Ball State University players have been selected yet although analysts such as Chris Stueber of Scout.com think four former Cardinals could be chosen in this weekend's Draft.
