Phi Gamma Delta fraternity will trade pizza for blood to benefit the American Red Cross leading up to the Ride Across the Purple Valley event.
FIJI Philanthropy Chair Bryan John said his goal is to have at least 75 donors. Students can make appointments at givelife.org or walk in as long as the blood drive is not full.
John said FIJI would serve free pizza and all participants would be entered to win a $50 gas card.
John said the drive is part of the second annual Ride Across the Purple Valley event, a 575-mile bike ride that FIJI chapters participate in.
The ride starts May 10 at the Beta Sigma chapter at Ball Sate University and will travel counterclockwise around the state to Purdue University, Wabash College, DePauw University, Rose Hulman University, Evansville University, Hanover College and Indiana University, according to a press release from FIJI. The ride will end in Indianapolis on May 13, where a check will be given to the American Red Cross from all participating chapters.
Indiana is called the Purple Valley because it has more FIJI chapters than any other state, John said. Last year Ride Across the Purple Valley raised more than $2,000.
The blood drive is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Cardinal Halls A, B and C.
