WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Junior wins weekly conference award for the first time in her Ball State career

Ball State University junior Danielle Gratton was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week on Monday.

The 6-foot 1-inch forward helped the Cardinals win both of their games last week, defeating a non-conference foe in the University of North Dakota 88-80 in overtime and conference-foe Miami University 81-66.

Gratton averaged 20 points per game in the two games, including a career-high 21 against North Dakota while shooting 64 percent from the field. She also had a career-high four steals in the win against North Dakota. She also had seven rebounds in each victory.

Gratton helped Ball State reclaim sole possession of first place in the MAC West Division.

Gratton transferred to Ball State after spending her freshman and sophomore seasons at the University of Illinois. She leads the Cardinals with 7.0 rebounds per game and is third on the team with an average of 12.3 points per game.

This week was the first time Gratton ever won the MAC West Player of the Week award. Porchia Green won the award twice and Audrey McDonald won it once this season.
