Students can enjoy trips to Wishbone Gifts, Inc. without venturing more than a few blocks off campus.
The 420 Underground, an 18 and older extension of Wishbone, officially opened at 420 N. Martin St. on Monday after a "beta opening" Thursday and Friday.
Employee Kassie Ferguson said the last three days went well and saw good business.
"People are being pretty responsive," she said. "A lot of kids are going to be happy."
She said the management at Wishbone wanted to open a location in the Village because the downtown Muncie location was missing a large customer base in Ball State students. A lot of younger Ball State students aren't aware of Wishbone, she said, and more don't have the means to travel so far off campus.
The Village location will be a smaller, convenient shop, Ferguson said. Until it can grow into its own store it will be a "mini Wishbone," she said, and will feature the staples of the original, including tobacco accessories and incense.
Ferguson said she thought 420 Underground would continue to see good business and attract more students. She said she hoped the new shop's convenience and selection would be as popular as the Den was with students.
