VP Tom Kinghorn to retire in July

Tom Kinghorn, vice president of business affairs since 1980, announced his retirement, effective July 1, according to today's President's Perspective.

Kinghorn will remain at Ball State University as the executive assistant to the president for commercialization and community engagement, according to the letter from Jo Ann Gora to the Ball State community. Kinghorn has agreed to hold the part-time position for three years.

"In an era of constant change, it is rare to have such long and distinguished service as Tom Kinghorn has provided to Ball State," Gora said in the letter. "We are fortunate that he will continue to help us as we move forward."

Kinghorn's part-time position will focus on areas concerning Ball State's future. He will continue commercialization efforts which should help create jobs in Muncie.

The letter stated that the university would start a search for a successor soon.
