MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards lose 59-41 on road to Miami

OXFORD, Ohio - The Ball State University men's basketball team was outscored 40-10 in the paint and lost 59-41 to Miami University in tonight's Mid-American Conference action at Millett Hall.

"First off, I give credit to Miami," coach Billy Taylor said. "I thought their kids played hard, fought us and competed for everything tonight. Unfortunately, we did not rise to that challenge, we did not compete the way that we needed to, and I was very disappointed in our effort in a lot of areas."

Senior guard Brandon Lampley led the Cardinals (10-10, 5-3 MAC) with 10 points and five rebounds, while also adding a game-high five steals. Senior guard Rob Giles added nine points for Ball State.

For Miami (13-7, 6-2 MAC), senior guard Michael Bramos had a game-high 14 points, while senior forward/center Tyler Dierkers had 12 points and a game-high six rebounds.

Ball State still remains in first place in the MAC West Division due to Western Michigan University's 68-61 road loss to Bowling Green State University tonight.

The Cardinals host Kent State University (10-10, 4-4 MAC) on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff at Worthen Arena.
