The Ball State University women's basketball team defeated the University of Toledo 67-53 to stay perfect in Mid-American Conference play Saturday.
With the win, Ball State improved to 11-6 for the season and 4-0 record in the MAC. Toledo fell to 9-8 and 3-1 in MAC play.
Coach Kelly Packard said her team had an opportunity with playing host to three of its first four MAC games, and the team took advantage of the scheduling.
"They seized it," she said. "And now they're in the drivers seat for the [MAC] West Division."
Ball State shot 43 percent for the game while Toledo shot 30 percent.
Packard said the players made it a goal for the team to go 10-0 against West Division MAC teams.
"When they put a goal down it's not a wishy-washy goal," she said.
Emily Maggert and Audrey McDonald led the team with 17 points. McDonald scored all her points in the first half.
Packard said Maggert has stepped up in recent games as a strong post presence, which brings more balance to the team.
Danielle Gratton led the team with 14 rebounds and also had six steals and five assists.
"Everybody has to box out," she said. "And luckily, I was where the ball was going."
