Students have a chance to win a scholarship equaling 40 percent of the opening day sales at Muncie's newest restaurant, Noodles & Company, on Monday.
Mark Burkley, operating partner at Noodles & Company, said anyone with a valid student ID from a high school or college can enter a drawing to win the scholarship.
"We've been doing that the past four or five openings," he said, "and it's been pretty popular and well received."
Burkley said the winnings at previous drawings have been about $4,000, but the amount depends on how much business the restaurant gets.
The restaurant uses the promotion to help train its staff on its first day of operation, Burkley said. Because most of the patrons will be eligible for the scholarship, he said, he hopes they will be forgiving of first-day mistakes typically made at restaurants.
The restaurant is located at 1416 W. McGalliard Road. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
