Not many teams enjoy playing games in Ann Arbor, Mich., and not just when talking about college football.
The University of Michigan is ranked 16th in the nation in men's tennis and is Ball State University's next opponent. This match comes one week after the Cardinals 7-0 loss to the No. 15 University of Illinois.
"We have to go out there with an attitude as a team and prove we can play with a team like Michigan," coach Bill Richards said. "That's the level we're trying to reach."
The Wolverines have not played a team match this season. Western Michigan University will take on Michigan at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Cardinals will get their chance in the nightcap at 6 p.m. The Cardinals lost to the Wolverines last year in Muncie 7-0.
"Each individual would have to get off to a good start and try to give themselves a chance to win," Richards said. "The goal is to play a better match than what we did against Illinois."
Michigan is led by Jason Jung, Andrew Mazlin and Mike Sroczynski. All three are ranked in the top 30 best singles players of the Midwest.
Ball State won its home opener against IPFW 7-0 Wednesday and is 1-1 on the year.
"It's a long season," Richards said. "We just want to get better every day. It sounds like a cliché, but that's where we're at right now."
