The Ball State University men's basketball team lost 62-58 to host Bowling Green State University tonight in the Cardinals' first game against a Mid-American Conference East Division opponent this season.
With the loss, Ball State drops to 9-9 overall and 4-2 in MAC play. The Cardinals are still tied atop the MAC West standings with Western Michigan University.
Freshman center Jarrod Jones led all players with 15 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard Brandon Lampley added 12 points and two steals for the Cardinals, while sophomore forward Malik Perry had six points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Bowling Green (10-9, 3-3 MAC) junior center Otis Polk had a team-high 13 points on five-of-five shooting and six rebounds. Their leading scorer, senior guard/forward Nate Miller, was held to seven points on the night with six rebounds.
The Cardinals return to play Saturday as they host Ohio University.
