The Ball State University men's basketball team defeated visiting Ohio University 51-44 in today's Mid-American Conference action at Worthen Arena.
With the win and Western Michigan University's loss to Kent State University today, the Cardinals (10-9, 5-2 MAC) move into sole possession of first place in the MAC West Division heading into the month of February.
Freshman center Jarrod Jones led the Cardinals with 13 points and a career-high four blocks, while two other Ball State players reached double figure scoring as senior guard Laron Frazier had 11 points and senior guard Brandon Lampley added 10. Both Frazier and Lampley had three assists in the game.
Sophomore forward Malik Perry had one point on 0-of-1 shooting, but led all players with 10 rebounds.
For Ohio (10-10, 3-4 MAC), forward Justin Orr led all scorers with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Forward Jerome Tillman - who came in as the MAC's top scorer and rebounder - finished almost 10 points below his season average with 10 points and added a team-high nine rebounds.
The Bobcats came in as the MAC's top 3-point shooting team, but shot 1-of-19 from beyond the 3-point arc in today's game.
