As glistening snow blanketed Ball State University campus Tuesday, the University Singers performed their 45th Annual Cabaret Concert in Sursa Performance Hall.
With only two weeks to prepare, the performance was made to illustrate the history of the group and perform about 10 songs to more than 60 students and alumna.
Jan Rishard, a member of the original Singers, considers herself the "godmother of the cast."
"I've been supporting University Singers for 45 years, and I expect to be proud of them for the next 45 years."
At the beginning of the concert, the audience's attention was directed to the back of the auditorium as the glee club sang "Alma Mater" and then assumed the stage and began singing "Bad Case of Lovin' You" by Robert Palmer.
More than half of the songs were show tunes, but the singers also performed original compositions during the show.
Sophomore Lauren Mazur performed the first solo number, "Perhaps." Her brother Joe accompanied her on piano and wrote the song.
"His songs seem to be the ones I'm most comfortable singing," Mazur said.
Another reference to family came from junior Kate Barton who dedicated the song "There You'll Be" to her mother. Barton said her mom has always been her biggest supporter.
"I think the show went well," Director Alen Alder said. "The group put a lot of work into the show, especially because it was performed so early in the semester."
Some songs from the Cabaret Concert will also be performed during the Singers Spectacular on April 3 and 4 at John R. Emens Auditorium.
