After starring for the Cardinals, two Ball State University football players will get the chance to showcase their skills to the nation in an all-star collegiate football game.
Robert Brewster and Chris Miller were selected to compete in the Texas vs. the Nation Challenge, an all-star game for college football players who completed their eligibility after the 2008 season.
Miller, who was a 2008 All-MAC Second-Team selection, will punt for the Nation team. The senior from Libertyville, Ill., earned first team all-MAC honors during the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons. He was also recognized as a 2007 American Football Coaches Association All-American, a part of the Playboy Magazine Preseason All-America Team in 2007 and 2008, a 2007 Ray Guy Award Semifinalist for the nation's top collegiate punter and a 2008 Ray Guy Award watch list member.
Miller finished his Ball State career first in punting average with a 44.8 yard per attempt career average. He also finished second in career punting yards - 10,342 - and third in career punts - 231.
Brewster, who was a 2007 and 2008 All-MAC First-Team selection, will represent the Texas team as an offensive tackle and guard. The senior from Cincinnati was on the watch lists for the 2008 Rotary Lombardi Award, which goes to the best lineman in college football, and Outland Trophy, which goes to the nation's most outstanding interior lineman.
Brewster was part of the Ball State offensive line that allowed 14 sacks in 13 games in 2008 - the fewest in the MAC and fourth fewest in the nation. He started all 14 of the Cardinals' games as a senior and 46 overall in his career.
The third-annual Texas vs. the Nation Challenge is an all-star game that took the place of the Hula Bowl. It will begin at 9 p.m. Jan. 31 from the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas and will be televised on the CBS College Sports Network.
Brewster and Miller are the first two Cardinals to compete in a post-college all-star game since Terry Moss played in the 2006 Hula Bowl. They will join 10 other MAC players in the game.
