FOOTBALL: Three assistant coaches added to Parrish's staff

Four days after hiring his first assistant coach, Ball State University football coach Stan Parrish announced three additions to his staff today.

Parrish, who was named the Cardinals head coach Dec. 18, 2008, after Brady Hoke left for San Diego State University, named Doug Graber, Deion Melvin and Pat Perles as his newest assistant coaches.

Graber was named the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. He was an assistant coach at Ball State in 1976-77 and helped lead the Cardinals to their first Mid-American Conference Championship in 1976. Graber has coached at the high school, college and pro levels during his career. He has also served as an analyst for ESPN and the NFL Network.

Melvin was named the linebackers coach after spending the past two seasons at Bowling Green State University.

Perles was named the offensive line coach after coaching at North Dakota State University for the past six seasons, the past four as offensive coordinator. He also has experience at the pro level.

The three assistants join Joey Lynch on Parrish's staff. Lynch will coach Ball State's wide receivers wide receivers.
