After coaching against Ball State University the last few seasons, a former Miami University football coach joined the Cardinals.
Coach Stan Parrish announced Tuesday he hired Jay Hood, who was Miami's defensive coordinator and associate head coach last season, to be the linebackers coach at Ball State.
Hood was an assistant at Miami since 2005. He coached Miami's defensive line in 2005 and 2006. He was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2007 and became the associate head coach in 2008.
Before coaching at Miami, Hood was the defensive coordinator and secondary coach at Fort Hays State University in 2004. He also was an assistant at Millikin University from 1998-2003, including spending his final five seasons as the school's defensive coordinator.
Hood was the head coach at Mesa State College from 1994-1997.
Hood is the fifth new coach Parrish has added to his staff since becoming the Cardinals' head coach in December.
