Sharing music is no less illegal than a week ago, but Ball State University students no longer need to fear a lengthy, expensive trial.
The Recording Industry Association of America now informs file-sharing violators instead of immediately prosecuting. The organization forwards information to Internet Service Provider, who will sanction users.
Of course this has little effect on students because we don't share music files (wink, wink), but we want to know what you think of the change anyway.
Is it a good idea or not? Have you already received a warning from RIAA for sharing music files? Do you know anyone who has been prosecuted?
