WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards stick it to Sycamores

The Ball State University women's basketball team defeated Indiana State University Saturday night by 82-63. Ball State has a 5-3 record and is undefeated at home.

Ball State shot 49 percent from the floor and shot 66 percent on free throws. Ball State also out rebounded Indiana State 48-28.

Guard Kiley Jarrett and forward Emily Maggert led the team scoring 19 points each. Danielle Gratton had 17 points and led the team in rebounds with 12.

Coach Kelly Packard said she and her coaching staff were pleased with the team's competitiveness through the entire game.

"We took a huge step forward today," she said. "We made some good strides in our mental focus."

Jarrett said Packard told her before the game that her scoring needed to increase to help spread out the defense.

"If I become one dimensional then it's going to be easy for the defense," Jarrett said.
