Sorority to play cards for charity Friday

Stakes are high for Sigma Kappa sorority on Friday when they play host to a casino-themed evening to raise money for Alzheimer's disease research.

Irving Gym II will be filled with Sigma Kappa sorority members - and anyone wanting to play cards for charity - at 7 p.m. for the organization's annual Aces High card tournament.

Florence Patino, Sigma Kappa member said the event is open to anyone.

The event has already caught the interest of a few Ball State University sororities and fraternities, but Sigma Kappa is hoping to get more people from around campus to attend, Patino said.

"It's a way to get away from studies and have fun playing cards," Patino said.

Winners will receive prizes, and the sorority will provide food for everyone.

Entry fees are $10 for Texas Holdem, $8 for Euchre, $6 for other games and $5 to watch.
