The Ball State University soccer team had multiple players earn Mid-American Conference honors for the seventh consecutive season Thursday.
Senior defender Sarah Schumacker and junior midfielder Megan Ridley both earned first team accolades while senior forward Emily Rein earned second team honors.
With the recognition, Rein became the first Ball State player to earn conference honors in each of her four seasons with the Cardinals. She was part of the MAC All-Freshman team in her first season, was First Team All-MAC as a sophomore and Second Team All-MAC as a junior and senior.
In each of her four seasons at Ball State, Rein led the Cardinals in scoring. She finished her Ball State career second all-time in Cardinal history with 70 points, 27 goals and 16 assists. She had 16 points with a team-best five goals and six assists this season.
Schumacker earned her first all-MAC honors after moving to defense from forward this season. In her first year as a member of the defensive unit, the Cardinals had a 0.93 goals against average and recorded seven shutouts, including four in conference play.
The senior also had two goals and three assists to finish the season fourth in scoring on the team with seven points. For her career, she finished sixth in Ball State history with 34 points, seventh with 11 goals and fifth with 12 assists.
Ridley also earned the first MAC honors of her career as she finished second on the team with nine points. She was second to Rein with four goals and also added an assist.
The midfielder finished the season tied for second in the MAC with three game-winning goals this season. She scored the game winners against Air Force, Eastern Michigan University and the University at Buffalo.
