FOOTBALL: ESPN host compliments Ball State team

In the midst of a four-game stretch in which ESPN is broadcasting the final four Ball State University football games, the Cardinals caught another person's eye at the network.

On the show "Rome is Burning," host Jim Rome discussed how the Ball State football team has impressed him this season. He talked about Tuesday's 31-16 win against Miami University and the team's perfect record.

"Ball State has something that national championship contenders Florida, Texas, Oklahoma and USC do not have: a perfect record," Rome said.

The host also talked about the great season running back MiQuale Lewis is having and called him "the best feature back you've never heard of." The junior ran for 165 yards and had two touchdowns against the RedHawks.

"Every time they give this guy the ball he gets them six yards," Rome said. "He's made 17 house calls already this year and at last check still did not have a Wikipedia page. Somebody needs to jump on that."

After the show a Wikipedia page for Lewis was created that includes a one-sentence description and a biography box about him.

Rome also praised receiver Briggs Orsbon for a catch he made against Miami. He then said he knows the Mid-American Conference is not as good as other conferences, but Ball State is still undefeated nonetheless.

"Yes, I get that the MAC is the MAC, and I think we all know what would happen if Ball State ran into even a second-tier team in the Big 12 or SEC - I'm not even convinced they survive Central Michigan and Western Michigan back-to-back in conference - but for now they're 10 up, zero down," Rome said. "And I guarantee somewhere David Letterman and Jason Whitlock are partying, and if they're not, they should be."
