CROSS COUNTRY: Miami dominates MAC, Cards finish 11th

Despite four of Ball State University's top five runners turning in season-best performances, the cross country team finished in 11th place at the Mid-American Conference Championship in Ypsilanti, Mich. Saturday.

Senior Vanessa Gilbert was the first Cardinal to complete the 3.1-mile course in a time of 18:02, which was good enough for 23rd place. Junior Sarah Kehe crossed the line 16 seconds later to capture 38th place.

Fellow juniors Brittany Ade (18:41), Lisa Arrowsmith (18:51) and Kelsey Nielsen (19:07) finished 61st, 71st and 80th, respectively. Erin Filak rounded out the runners for Ball State with a time of 20:52, which was good enough for 99th place.

Miami University won the race with 39 points, 212 points ahead of Ball State. Ohio University finished third despite fielding the first and second place runners.
