The Ball State University women's volleyball team made it three in a row in conference play by defeating the University at Buffalo 25-21, 26-28, 25-23, 25-20.
Freshman setter Brittany McGinnis said the win against the Bulls was a good test for her team after the long weekend, which began with Thursday night's 3-0 win at the University of Toledo.
"[Saturday's] win means a lot because we've been on the road so much that we came to practice this morning pretty tired," said McGinnis, who had 35 assists and six digs against Buffalo. "That was a lot of driving just for one match."
Coach Dave Boos said his team was "fortunate to come away with the victory."
"A lot of credit goes to Buffalo," Boos said. "Their serving game gave us lots of fits."
Ball State (7-11, 3-1 MAC) was led offensively by sophomore outside hitter Hannah Sullivan with 10 kills. Junior middle blocker Alisha Green added nine kills with a .421 attack percentage for the Cardinals.
Defensively, freshman defensive specialist Christie Waters had a team-high 15 digs, while sophomore defensive specialist/libero Alyssa Rio had 12 digs.
For Buffalo (5-13, 0-4 MAC), Dani Silvers had a team-high 12 kills, while Lindsey Schlegel had a match-high 17 digs.
Ball State next plays on Friday at Northern Illinois University.
