FOOTBALL: Cards No. 16 in newest BCS standings

A 22-point win Saturday was good enough for the Ball State University football team to move up four spots in the newest poll.

The Cardinals were ranked No. 16 in the BCS standings released Sunday night.

The BCS standings are compiled through the Harris Polls, Coaches Poll and six computer polls. Ball State was No. 17 in the Harris Poll and No. 19 in the Coaches Poll.

In addition, the Cardinals moved up two spots to No. 18 in this week's Associated Press Poll released Sunday.

Ball State received 542 votes - 185 more votes than last week - following its 38-16 win against Eastern Michigan University at Scheumann Stadium.

The Cardinals moved ahead of Kansas University, the University of Pittsburgh and the University of South Florida, which all lost Saturday. Florida State University moved up eight spots to No. 16 after its 30-20 win against unranked Virginia Tech.
