FM Music will be hosting a trash pickup day to encourage green efforts on and around Ball State University's campus.
The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Teams of four to six volunteers should meet at MT Cup in the Village to get an assigned area to canvas.
The side roads of campus from Bethel to University avenues will be targeted.
The Muncie Sanitation Department will place extra garbage cans at strategic locations to assist the teams.
Organizer for the event, Nick Armogida, said he hopes residents in the targeted areas will help out in any way they can, even if that means picking up a few pieces of trash in passing.
Armogida said the upcoming Halloween weekend made Sunday an ideal time to clean up Muncie.
"Ball State does a great job cleaning up trash on campus, but the areas around it could use some serious work," Armogida said. "This is a perfect opportunity for us to work together and to provide a cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing Muncie."
