For the third consecutive season, the Ball State University women's basketball team was predicted to win the Mid-American Conference West Division Thursday by the media.
The Cardinals received 129 votes in the preseason poll. Northern Illinois University, which was predicted to finish second, received 89 points.
Ball State returns seven letterwinners from last year's team, which won its fourth MAC West Division championship in program history with a 15-15 overall record and 11-5 MAC record.
The men's team was predicted to finish fifth in the MAC West Division.
The Cardinals received 55 points in the preseason poll, 67 points behind the predicted champion Western Michigan University. Ball State was predicted to finish ahead of Northern Illinois.
