The first serve of Pi Beta Phi sorority's annual volleyball tournament, Arrow Games, was hit at 7:10 p.m. Monday at Irving Gym.
Twelve teams gathered to raise money for Pi Beta Phi's Arrowmont vocational school in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Arrowmont is a school of arts and crafts that has one- to two-week workshops in the middle of the Smokey Mountains for children of all ages.
Pi Beta Phi President Denise Spudic said the organization hoped to match the $3,000 raised at last year's Arrow Games.
"Ball State University's Pi Beta Phi chapter has raised the most money in our region, and we hope to do that again," Spudic said.
During the volleyball game, sorority members sold "Pie a Pi Phi" tickets. Tickets were sold for $1 to throw a pie in the face of a Pi Beta Phi member or $5 to throw a pie at a specific Pi Beta Phi member.
Volleyball games were played simultaneously, while the sorority sold homemade baked goods, chips, pretzels and water.
Sigma Kappa sorority member Beth Hoffman said she attended Arrow Games last year and wanted to come back again to play against her sisters.
People also were able to nominate king and queens for the event by donating money.
Sigma Kappa member Lauren Boucher said playing volleyball against her sisters was intense, but it was all for a good cause.
