MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ohio State ties BSU for conference lead

Two days prior to playing No. 9 Ohio State University, the No. 8 Ball State University men's volleyball team's half-a-match lead for first place in the conference was eliminated.

Ohio State (16-7, 9-1 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) defeated IPFW 27-30, 30-26, 30-26, 22-30, 15-13 Tuesday and tied Ball State (18-8, 9-1 MIVA) for first place in the conference.

Ohio State has won four of its last five matches and is tied for first place for the first time since early March.

Including the Buckeyes and Cardinals' Thursday match in Columbus, Ohio, both teams have two conference matches remaining in the regular season.

If Ball State beats Ohio State, it will clinch the MIVA and the No. 1 spot in the conference tournament. However, with a loss Thursday, the Cardinals must win against No. 15 Lewis University on Saturday and the Buckeyes have to lose to sixth-place Mercyhurst College on Saturday for the Cardinals to win the MIVA.
