BASEBALL: Benbow wins player of the week award

For the third consecutive week a Ball State University baseball player has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week.

Following Ryan Chenoweth and Dean Anna is outfielder Kory Benbow, who won the award Monday. The sophomore went 10-17 at the plate with two home runs, 11 runs and 10 RBIs in four games last week. In addition he walked four times giving him a .652 on base percentage and put up 1.059 slugging percentage.

In Tuesday's midweek game at IPFW with two hits and a grand slam, Benbow collected a team season high seven RBIs. The second game came Saturday in the Cardinals weekend series versus Bowling Green State University. He went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with a home run, two doubles, three runs, a walk and one RBI.

Benbow saw his batting average rise to .363. He leads the team in slugging percentage and is second in runs, doubles, home runs, on-base percentage and stolen bases.
