Fresh off her record-breaking performance against Western Michigan University, Audrey McDonald was named Mid-American Conference West Division player of the week Monday.
McDonald scored all of her career-high 27 points on her school-record nine 3-pointers, leading the Ball State University women's basketball team to a 74-69 home victory Saturday against the Broncos.
It's the second victory the Cardinals recorded against Western Michigan this season, improving the team's divisional record to 8-1 in the process.
McDonald is the fourth Cardinals' player to be named MAC West Division player of the week this season.
McDonald's nine 3-pointers also tied a MAC record for most 3-point field goals in a single game.
During the past three games, McDonald has shot 17-of-22 from behind the 3-point arc, a 77 percent clip. She has averaged almost 18 points per game in that stretch.
On the season, the sophomore guard is averaging 9.9 points per game, fourth-most on the team. Through the year she is shooting 44 percent from behind the 3-point line.
The Cardinals will attempt to clinch at least a share of the MAC West Division title when they play Northern Illinois University at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the team's final game of the regular season.
