Ball State University sophomore Ali Bishel celebrated Spring Break by breaking a school record.
The Cardinal track and field runner broke the Ball State record in the 5,000-meter run at the Alex Wilson Invitational. The meet took place on March 7 and 8 at the University of Notre Dame.
Bishel's time of 16:21.66 earned her a third-place finish and topped the previous school record of 16:31.26, set by Jill Scully in 2006.
Bishel followed that performance with a 16th place finish in the same event at the 2008 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships a week later. She clocked in at 16:53.92.
Bishel also ranks second in Cardinal history in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:43.59.
