Four Ball State University swimmers made the Academic All-Mid-American Conference men's swimming and diving team.
Senior Ryan Franklin and sophomores Tyler Dixon, Ben Karowski and Dane Mishler were among the 21 athletes to earn a spot on the conference team, which was announced Thursday. It was the first team any of the four men made the MAC team.
Ball State senior Michelle Huang made the Academic All-MAC team for the women's team, for which the awards were announced March 4.
Last year Ball State had one men's swimming and diving athlete make the academic team, then-senior Zach Whitaker. This year's four athletes on the team matches Ball State's effort for the 2005-06 season, when the Cardinals also had four athletes make the Academic All-MAC team.
Eastern Michigan University led the academic team this year, with nine athletes being represented on the squad. The University at Buffalo had the second most number of athletes make the team, with six. Miami University rounded out the squad by placing two athletes on it.
