With Ball State not making the men's basketball NCAA Tournament, Charlie Cardinal will be sitting on his couch today and Friday watching the first round games. However, Charlie has a rooting interest and connection to all 64 teams. We think he is rooting for his cousin at Louisville.

North Carolina - Associate Athletics Director Karin Lee earned a master's degree from North Carolina in 1997.

Indiana - The Hoosiers are 19-1 all-time against the Cardinals in men's basketball.

Arkansas - Former Cardinals men's basketball coach Ronny Thompson was an assistant coach at Arkansas before coming to Ball State in April 2006.

Notre Dame - Coach Billy Taylor played four seasons for Notre Dame and was an assistant coach for the Fighting Irish.

George Mason - The men's volleyball team defeated George Mason in five games earlier this season and will play a home game against them April 4.

Washington State - Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins was the Cougars ticket manager in 1983.

Winthrop - The Winthrop women's golf team finished ahead of the Cardinals at the UNC-Greensboro Classic in October 2007.

Oklahoma - Freshman shortstop Alicia Barkley is from Oklahoma.

Saint Joseph - The Hawks defeated the men's basketball team 74-63 earlier this season.

Louisville - Louisville's football stadium is named after Papa John's pizza, whose founder is a Ball State alumunus.

Boise State - The other BSU.

Butler - The men's basketball team and Butler have played 99 times, with the Bulldogs leading the series 67-32.

South Alabama - Coach Michael Lovett played soccer at South Alabama from 1992-94.

Tennessee - The Volunteers defeated the men's basketball team 78-52 during the 1986-87 season.

America - Received automatic bid from the Patriot League, the conference where Billy Taylor coached prior to coming to Ball State.

Kansas - The men's basketball team defeated No. 3 Kansas 93-91 in 2001.

Portland State - The soccer team tied Portland State 0-0 during the 2006 season.

UNLV - UNLV defeated the men's basketball team 69-67 in the Sweet 16 Round of the 1990 NCAA Tournament.

Kent State - Kent State won the MAC's automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

Clemson - The football team will play a road game against Clemson Sept. 11, 2010.

Villanova - In its 2007 season opener, the field hockey team beat Villanova in overtime.

Vanderbilt - Ball State history professors Anthony Edmonds, John Glenn and Robert Hall earned their Ph.D.s from Vanderbilt.

Siena - Siena defeated the women's volleyball team in four games during the 2007 season.

USC - Ball State and USC had at least one player on the 2005 USA men's volleyball national roster.

Kansas State - The football team lost to Kansas State 76-0 in 2000, its worst loss in school history.

Wisconsin - Running back coach Eddie Faulkner was a tailback at the Wisconsin and graduated from the university in 2000.

Cal State Fullerton - The father of offensive tackle Adam Cole played on the Cal State Fullerton football team.

Gonzaga - Gonzaga's Steve Koffman, assistant professor of counselor education, earned his Ph.D. from Ball State in 1998.

Davidson - The men's golf team finished two strokes behind second-place Davidson at the 2005 Charlotte 49er Classic.

Georgetown - John Thompson III, the brother of former men's basketball coach Ronny Thompson, is Georgetown's head coach.

UMBC - Former soccer coach Michelle Salmon was the head coach at UMBC for six seasons before coming to Ball State.

Memphis - The women's tennis team defeated Memphis 4-3 earlier this season.

UT-Arlington - UT-Arlington defeated the women's volleyball team in five games at the Iowa Invitational last season.

Mississippi State - Professor of Flute Julia Mattern was an assistant professor of flute at Mississippi State prior to coming to Ball State.

Oregon - Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins was once colleagues with Oregon Athletics Director Bill Moos.

Michigan State - Coach Laura Seibold-Caudill was a three-time national diving finalist at Michigan State and graduated from the university in 1976.

Temple - Temple's football team plays in the MAC East Division.

Pittsburgh - The brother of defensive back Sean Baker plays on the Pittsburgh baseball team.

Oral Roberts - Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Shayne McKenzie played on the Oral Roberts women's basketball team and track and field team. She graduated from the university in 2003.

Marquette - Former men's basketball coach Tim Buckley is an assistant coach at Marquette, and former Ball State point guard Maurice Acker is on the team's active roster.

Kentucky - The women's basketball team lost to Kentucky 85-82 in the second round of the 2007 WNIT.

Stanford - The men's volleyball team lost to Stanford in five games on Feb. 2, its last lost this season.

Cornell - James Glass, former director of the Center for Historic Preservation and professor of architecture, received his Ph.D. from Cornell.

Miami - Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins was an assistant athletics director at Miami from 1983-1985, 20 years before he received his college degree in 2003.

St. Mary's - Former women's volleyball player Christine Kennedy played in seven matches for St. Mary's in 2005.

Texas - Pitcher Laura Masch is from Austin, Texas, where the university is located.

Austin Peay - The men's basketball team defeated Austin Peay 81-60 at Worthen Arena in 2001.

UCLA - The men's volleyball team swept No. 1 UCLA in the Hall of Fame Tournament during the 1995 season.

Mississippi Valley State - The men's basketball team defeated Mississippi Valley State 73-63 in 1985.

BYU - The uncle of freshman linebacker Pete Rolf played on the BYU football team.

Texas A&M - The men's tennis team and Texas A&M competed in the 2007 Milwaukee Classic.

Drake - Jason Roberson, strength and conditioning coordinator, was on the Drake's strength and conditioning staff before coming to Ball State in 2006.

Western Kentucky - The football team defeated Western Kentucky 35-12 in Ball State's 2007 Homecoming game.

Connecticut - The football team defeated Connecticut 24-21 in overtime during the 2002 season.

San Diego - Defensive end Brandon Crawford, a former Marine, attended a nine-week boot camp in San Diego.

Purdue - The Boilermakers defeated the men's basketball team 70-57 in West Lafayette earlier this season.

Baylor - At the 2007 Rio Verde Invitational, Baylor won the tournament and the women's golf team finished in last place.

Xaiver - Associate Athletics Director Pat Quinn earned a bachelor's degree from Xavier in 1968.

Georgia - Former wide receiver Terry Moss played in the 2006 Hula Bowl All-Star Game, in which one of his coaches was Georgia's Mark Richt.

West Virginia - The football team was scheduled to play West Virginia at the start of last season before both teams voided the contract in the spring of 2007.

Arizona - Jarmila Popovicova, natural resources and environment management assistant professor, earned her Ph.D. from Arizona in 1996.

Duke - The women's basketball team lost a road game to No. 2 Duke 110-24 in the 2005-2006 season.

Belmont - The baseball team has lost to Belmont the last two seasons.
