The Ball State University women's swimming and diving team fell to eighth place in the standings after two days at the Mid-American Conference championships.
Freshman Katie Bylsma finished 16th in the 50-yard freestyle preliminaries with a time of 24.21 and finished 12th with a time of 24.01 in the final later in the day. She was the one Cardinal in three individual swimming events to finish in the top 16 spots.
Ball State did not have anyone finish in the top 16 in the 500-yard freestyle or 200-yard individual medley.
Senior Stephanie Paul finished 11th and sophomore Lisa Maertin finished 14th in the 1-meter diving with scores of 217 and 210.05.
The Cardinals' team of Bylsma, sophomore Sarah Kehe, senior Addison Del Rio and senior Michelle Huang finished eighth out of eight teams in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:37.01.
The University of Toledo continued to lead the meet with 258.5 points and Ohio University and Eastern Michigan University followed in second and third places with 225 and 198 points. Miami University is in fourth with 182 points and the host University at Buffalo is fifth with 148. Bowling Green State University, the University of Akron and Ball State finish out the standings with 123.5, 111 and 82 points.
The championship meet runs through Saturday.
