OUR VIEW: Best of SB 42 commercials

AT ISSUE: The Daily News picks the top commercials of the Super Bowl

Colts fans didn't have their team to root for in Sunday's Super Bowl, but had a huge variety of commercials to enjoy. Of the almost 60 national ads, viewers saw very little repetition and got lots of laughs. The following are the Daily News' top picks.

HONORABLE MENTION:Vitamin Water's commercial featuring Shaquille O'Neal kept us laughing. The thought of the massive basketball player as a jockey was well played.

SMARTEST MARKETING, MOST NOVEL:Tide to go's commercial featuring the talking coffee stain was fresh, fun and was unlike any other Super Bowl commercial.

BIGGEST WTF MOMENT:Planters' cashew commercial grabbed viewers' attention and kept it through until punch line. We wanted to know why everyone was attracted to Ms. Unibrow.

FUNNIEST COMMERCIAL, BEST PHYSICAL HUMOR:Pepsi's commercial for pepsistuff.com, despite initial confusion, gave us the funniest moments, which featured Justin Timberlake.

MOST SENTIMENTAL:In all the Super Bowl's glitz and glam, Fifth Third Bank brought us back to reality. The commercial showed us a couple saving up for the newborn soon to join their family.

CUTEST STORYLINE:Coke showed up on Super Bowl Sunday, as usual. Charlie Brown beating out Underdog and Family Guy's Stewie for the giant inflatable bottle of Coke was a great use of characterization.

BEST OVERALL COMMERCIAL:FedEx's commercial featuring the destructive carrier pigeons was the best overall commercial. It had humor, novelty and caught viewers' attention. The plot line was smart and kept viewers' interest.
