The Ball State University women's volleyball team broke a 13-match losing streak with two consecutive victories two weeks ago and looked to turn its season around. However, with the 3-1 (30-27, 30-18, 27-30, 30-20) loss to Kent State University Saturday, the Cardinals have now lost four straight.
With the loss the Cardinals fell to 2-6 in Mid-American Conference play and 3-17 overall while Kent State improved to 6-2 in the MAC and 15-6 overall.
Outside attackers Julie Breivogel and Elaina Katatolis led Ball State with 16 and 13 kills respectively. Libero Alyssa Rio lead the team with 24 digs in the match and was one of five Cardinals with at least 11 digs.
The Cardinals have nine matches left in the regular season to salvage the season and the next four are in Worthen Arena. They start the home stand with Miami University, which is tied for first place in the MAC East with a 5-1 MAC record.
