Bar opens in different building

Students enjoy Locker Room's larger size, warmer atmosphere

The Giant Locker Room might have a new location, but it still remains a favorite place for Ball State University students and the Muncie community, who have anticipated its opening, which was Tuesday.

The Locker Room's owner Scott Dalton, said the new location has provided a lot more room.

"There are about 50 more seats," Dalton said. "We have always had crowds, but this will let more people in the door."

Seniors Frank Brewer and Dave Sanford said the new location is almost twice the size of the former location.

"It got crowded late at night, so this should be better," Sanford said.

Dalton said the new location also has a different atmosphere.

"The Locker Room is a laid-back atmosphere where people can enjoy each other and conversation," Dalton said. "It's a warmer atmosphere."

The new location has separate sections, which the old location did not have, making it possible to stay with a group, Brewer said.

"I think it looks classier," Brewer said.

Dalton said the restaurant and bar will concentrate more on the food they offer as well.

"Our food has always been top quality, but we are going to elaborate on that," Dalton said.

The Locker Room has been busy preparing for the new location's opening, but they had to delay the opening until Tuesday because there was still too much to that needed to be done, Dalton said.

"There has been a high demand to open back up," Dalton said. "People are dying to get in, its been nuts."

Sanford said it was hard waiting for the Locker Room to open, especially because he usually comes to the restaurant at least four times a week for lunch.

"We left to come here from a party on Friday to see if it was open," Sanford said. "I was here today for lunch hoping it was open too."

Dalton said although there are still many things to be done, he expects business to be good this weekend.

"I hope we can set up and get organized in time," Dalton said. "The draft lines are not in yet, but they should be in later this week."

Although the Locker Room is still organizing, patrons are happy it is open for business, Dalton said.

Sanford said he was looking forward to the opening the whole time it was closed.

"I didn't think I would miss the Locker Room so much," Sanford said. "I really like the new place."
