Roller receives four-year contract

Tracy Roller signed a four-year deal worth $181,000 Thursday to remain women's basketball coach at Ball State University.

The contract will keep Roller, whose initial contract at Ball State expires Saturday, with the program through the 2010-11 season.

Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins said Roller's $181,000 base salary next season will be the same amount as Cardinals' men's basketball coach Ronny Thompson.

Roller said she was approached by Collins before her team hosted the University of Kentucky in the second round of the women's National Invitational Tournament Mar. 19. At that time, Collins made a verbal offer, Roller said.

Roller said $181,000 was the initial offer made by the university.

"I am very humbled by this offer and extremely excited to continue to lead this program into what I feel is a very bright future ahead for Ball State women's basketball," Roller said in press release.
