University closes; Classes canceled until 5 p.m.

Ball State University is closed, and classes before 5 p.m. today are canceled, according to University Communications Director Tony Proudfoot.

Classes after 5 p.m. will be in session, and all employees regularly scheduled for work after that time are to report, he says. This includes all second and third shift workers.

The university closure began at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday for employees, but essential personnel, as determined by the departments, are required to work during the closure. If employees are unsure on if they are an essential personnel, they should contact the department's supervisor.

Essential services include:- Residence and Dining Halls- Public Safety- University Computing Services- Bracken Library- Health Center- Switchboard- Student Center Hotel- Heat Plant- University Gyms- WIPB-TV- Indiana Public Radio
